Pascrell Blasts Blockade of Historic Mangi Judicial NominationPakastani American attorney would be first Muslim on entire federal appellate bench
Washington, DC,
March 21, 2024
Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today blasted the continued blockade of New Jersey attorney Adeel Mangi’s nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. “The continued blockade of Adeel Mangi is a sham and a disgrace and a stain on the Senate,” said Congressman Pascrell. “Adeel Mangi is a respected attorney in our community with impeccable credentials. His elevation would put an ultra-qualified individual on the bench and be positive history for Muslim Americans everywhere. Mangi is being held off the bench because of Islamophobic lies and innuendo. The hearing the Senate Judiciary Committee held was an embarrassment, with Republican senators engaged in open racism. Senators of good faith must come together now and get Adeel Mangi confirmed.” |
