Rep. Pascrell Announces Opening of FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Passaic County
Paterson, NJ,
November 9, 2012
U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-08) today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be opening a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Passaic County at 2pm this afternoon. The DRC, which will be located at the Passaic County Department of Health in Paterson, will allow applicants to obtain information about FEMA, other disaster assistance programs and for questions related to their case. "As power is restored and cleanup begins in the wake of Sandy's devastation, I will continue to fight to ensure northern New Jersey residents have the resources they need to rebuild their lives and our communities," said Rep. Pascrell. "The DRC will provide Passaic County residents assistance with housing, submission of applications to FEMA and processing claims that have already been submitted. As we continue down the road to recovery, I am committed to working with local, state and federal officials to ensure together we will rebuild a stronger New Jersey." Rep. Pascrell worked closely with local, state and FEMA officials in the wake of the storm to ensure that Passaic and Bergen Counties received federal assistance, including the submission of a request to President Obama to extend the emergency declaration for individual and public assistance to the northern New Jersey counties. According to FEMA, New Jersey will have a DRC in every county by next Wednesday. Bergen County already has a DRC located at Bergen County Plaza. Passaic County residents can register for assistance at the DRC or by calling 1 (800) 621-FEMA (3362). The TTY number is 1 (800) 462-7585 for those who are speech- or hearing-impaired. Services available at the DRC will include: • Guidance regarding disaster recovery ### |
