Pascrell Announces Emergency Management Grant For Passaic County Tech

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-08) today announced that Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) has been awarded a $98,761 federal grant through the United States Department of Education’s Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Program (REMS). “I applaud Passaic County Tech for pursuing and securing this important emergency management investment,” stated Pascrell. “Schools have a responsibility to provide the highest level of safety and security for every student. This grant will ensure that the best information and practices are contributed to PCTI’s emergency readiness and response plan.” The grant will allow PCTI to invest in improvements to the school emergency management plan. Improvements will include training emergency personnel and students in emergency response procedures; communicating emergency plans and procedures with parents; and coordinating with state, county and local law enforcement as well as public safety and health agencies. "We are delighted to receive this very important grant opportunity," stated to Diana C. Lobosco, Chief School Administrator of Passaic County Technical Institute. “We look forward to putting PCTI at the forefront of school security by expanding and enhancing our existing emergency readiness." Project leaders will work with a highly qualified external evaluator to implement the four phases of crisis management which include; mitigation/prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. The following government bodies and organizations will partner with PCTI: Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Passaic County Sheriff's Department, Passaic County Office of Emergency Management, Passaic County Police Academy, Passaic County Community College, American Red Cross of NJ, University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ, Wayne Health Dept, Wayne Office of Emergency management, Wayne Fire Department, Behavioral Health Services/St. Mary's Hospital, PCTI Parent Teacher Student Organization. ### |
