U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-08) made the following statement upon notification of the death of Spc. Fardi Elazzouzi;

“Spc. Farid Elazzouzi’s service is an extreme example of the hardship and suffering that thousands and thousands of immigrants endure to prove their loyalty to America everyday.  We must never forget that it is the sacrifices made by men and women like Farid, which allow us to enjoy our liberties.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends in Paterson and his family overseas.  Farid was not born in this country nor did he die here, but I will forever remember his legacy as that of a brave and patriotic American.
