U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) held his annual Congressional Health Fair today at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. The event offered free health screenings and provided information about the numerous services available to local residents. “It brings me great pride to see the residents of my district taking proactive steps to maintain their health," said Rep. Pascrell. "The health of any community is directly tied to health of its residents, and the services provided at today’s Health Fair will help keep our residents fit and aware of any pending medical issues. I'd like to thank Englewood Hospital for their support in hosting this wonderful event. One of my top priorities in Congress has always been promoting the health and fitness of our communities.” Attendees to this year’s Health Fair received screenings for blood pressure, cardiac and pulmonary health, glaucoma tests, and cholesterol levels, as well as stroke assessments and memory tests. Educational tables offered information on nutrition, men’s and women’s health, and diabetes management, and on-site pharmacists answered questions and provided guidance and information. Participating vendors included the AARP, the Brain Injury Alliance of NJ, and the Alzheimer’s Association. Rep. Pascrell has made health issue a focal point for much of his career. As New Jersey’s only Member on the House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over issues pertaining to Medicare, Pascrell continues to push for legislation that seeks to improve the health and well-being of his constituents and improve access to affordable health care. He also co-founded the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force in 2001 and has served as task force co-chair since its inception. Englewood Hospital and Medical Center is a state-of-the-art area hospital that provides the latest diagnostics and treatments to Bergen County. |
