Pascrell Website Helps Constituents Access Undeliverable Stimulus Checks

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-08) a member of the House Committee on Ways and Means today announced that www.pascrell.house.gov will host the names of taxpayers in Essex and Passaic counties who must update their address with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in order to receive stimulus or refund checks.  Address changes must be made by November 28, 2008.

“The purpose of the economic stimulus package was to jumpstart the economy by empowering working families with additional spending power,” stated Pascrell.  “The undeliverable stimulus money, which totals $163 million, is doing our families and our economy no good sitting in the U.S. Treasury.  It needs to be in the hands of those who need it to afford the inflated costs of food, health care, home heating and gasoline.”

If you find your name on the list, the “Where’s My Stimulus Payment?" tool on IRS.gov is the quickest and easiest way to check the status of a stimulus check and receive instructions on how to update your address. Taxpayers without internet access should call 1-866-234-2942.

A taxpayer must submit his or her social security number, filing status and amount of refund shown on their 2007 return. The tool will provide the status of their refund and in some cases provide instructions on how to resolve delivery problems.

Pascrell today participated in a special recess hearing in the House Ways and Means Committee to focus on economic recovery, job creation and investment in America.  Pascrell firmly believes a second economic stimulus that invests in infrastructure improvement is needed to help stabilize the American economy.
