Rep. Pascrell Announces $66M in Homeland Security Grants for New JerseyOver $66 million in federal funds awarded to New Jersey through Homeland Security Preparedness Grant programs
Washington, DC,
September 5, 2017
Today, U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr. (NJ-09) announced $66,169,252 in federal funds awarded to New Jersey under the Homeland Security Preparedness Grant programs. The funding, through the Fiscal Year 2017, include State Homeland Security Program, Urban Area Security Initiative, Emergency Management Performance Grant Program, Nonprofit Security Grant Program, Port Security Grant Program, Transit Security Grant Program, and Intercity Bus Security Grant Program funds. “You can never be too prepared for an emergency situation. Thankfully, these federal dollars will be used to help improve our state’s readiness to prevent and protect our communities against a potential attack or major disaster,” said Rep. Pascrell. “As federal dollars become available, I remain committed to fighting for every dollar I can find in the federal budget to improve the safety and security of my constituents. Additionally, I will continue to advocate for robust funding of these programs moving forward.” Rep. Pascrell has long been an advocate for the Homeland Security Preparedness Grant programs, specifically the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSPG). In April, Rep. Pascrell and Rep. Dan Donovan (R-NY) led a bipartisan letter 110 of their colleagues urging the co-chairs of the House Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Homeland Security to fund the NPSG program at $50 million in the FY2018 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill. The letter cites an increase of anti-Semitic threats across the nation. New Jersey and locations in the state received grant funding for several programs. Recipients below.
