Pascrell Statement on the Trump Administration’s Rescissions Demands
Washington, DC,
May 8, 2018
Today, U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) issued the following statement in response to the Trump administration’s demand to rescind $15 billion in federal funding to critical departments and programs. “Mere months after passing a trillion-dollar tax scam designed to further enrich the top one percent, Republicans are now saying we need to reign in spending. After ordering the steak, Republicans want the middle class to pick up the check once more, now through fiendish cuts to children’s health insurance, public housing, job training, environmental protection, manufacturing, and highway funding. Coming on the heels of a tax scam they bragged was designed to hurt the Northeast, Republicans now want to take away $107 million to help my state continue its recovery from Hurricane Sandy. They want to kick New Jerseyans while we’re down all over again. It’s insult to second injury and chutzpah doesn’t even begin to cover it. “This rescissions proposal is a disgrace and should be deposited where it belongs: into the trash basket.” |
