Congressman Pascrell Announces $1.6 Million In Grants For Homeless Programs In Passaic County

PATERSON – U.S.  Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-NJ-8) announced today that Passaic County and Passaic County community-based organizations have been awarded $1.6 million in federal funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) “Continuum of Care” homeless assistance grant program.
 
“This federal investment in Passaic County will help the most hard pressed individuals and families gain access to basic community services,” stated Pascrell a member of the House Committee on Ways and Means.  “I am committed to working in Congress to fund social service programs that will bridge the gap between the poor and the rich.  It is our moral responsibility to create opportunities for low-income families to free themselves from poverty and exclusion.”     
 
Continuum of Care grants provide permanent and transitional housing to homeless persons as well as fund important services, including job training, health care, mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment and child care. 
                                                                                                                            
Continuum of Care funding distribution for Passaic County:

Passaic County Department of Human Services has been awarded $471,360 in shelter and care funding for Eva’s Village Apartments.

Passaic County Department of Human Services has been awarded $10,114 in supportive housing services for Housing First client outreach.

Passaic County Department of Human Services has been awarded $186,660 for the City of Paterson’s Housing First pilot program.

Passaic County Department of Human Services has been awarded $186,660 in shelter and care funding for the chronically homeless.
 
The Paterson Coalition for Housing has been awarded $358,740 in transitional housing funds for the Catherine A. Rowe Commons.
 
The Hispanic Multi Purpose Service Center has been awarded $83,804 for the SWITCH program (Single Women In Transitional and Comprehensive Housing.)
 
St. Philip's Ministry of Paterson has been awarded $90,825 for supportive housing units.

Strengthen Our Sisters of West Milford has been awarded $233,334 for a permanent housing project.
