Pascrell Blasts Senate Border Supplemental

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today released the following statement after voting against the Senate version of the emergency supplemental spending bill:

“I am disgusted by this administration’s venomous treatment of migrants and its utter contempt for humanity. But I am also disgusted by the disrespect emanating from the Senate forcing approval for this lousy package. Donald Trump’s mass deportation policies are a disgrace and have done nothing to make America safer. Children have died, families have been destroyed. Our national reputation has been torn to confetti.

“We had an opportunity to put a stop to at least some of the unspeakable viciousness that Donald Trump and his minions have unleashed on many of the most vulnerable peoples on this earth. We had an opportunity to ensure children are treated humanely, that they’re fed and provided water, and that they’re being given blankets and doctors. But apparently that’s too much for some. So instead, a blind eye is being turned. I can tell you it isn’t my eye. History will harshly judge those who did not do everything possible to stop Donald Trump and his willing adjutants. If we don’t do the right thing, this infamnia will continue to stain America irreparably.”
