U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09), New Jersey’s only member of the House Ways and Means Committee, offered harsh words in response to the Trump administration’s budget request for Fiscal Year 2021.

“Donald Trump lied about protecting Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid. This vicious budget will disembowel each program, unleashing unimaginable pain and hardship on the tens of millions of Americans whose very lives depend on them,” said Rep. Pascrell. “Republicans jammed into law a $2.3 trillion tax scam that went almost entirely to big business and corporate fat cats. This monstrosity is about forcing the middle-class to pick up the tab. If Trump’s budget proposal became law, road-building, schools, medical research, climate science, disaster preparedness, and other necessities of the 21st Century would be torched. Trump’s budget is a blueprint in the deconstruction and devolution of a great nation. With my colleagues, I will fight Trump and Republicans from making their nightmare budget America’s reality.  The House must pass a progressive, fair plan that protects our neighbors and invests in a future out children and grandchildren can enjoy.”
