Pascrell Renamed Chairman of Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight

Vows aggressive agenda for workers and against corruption

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) was tonight renamed chairman of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight by Chairman Richard Neal (D-MA-01) and his Democratic colleagues on the committee. Pascrell succeeds legendary late Rep. John Lewis (D-GA).

“I remain humbled by the confidence of Chairman Neal and my colleagues to lead this panel,” said Rep. Pascrell. “In embracing this responsibility, I promise that we will continue to be relentless in conducting investigations to improve peoples’ lives and show the vital work Congress can do for regular Americans. We must restore public confidence in our tax system by fixing the IRS and ensuring the agency delivers to Americans the pandemic relief they are due. This committee will also pursue corruption wherever we find it with absolute ferocity, including failures in the federal pandemic response. Cleaning up the landfill of public and private corruption left in the wake of the Trump regime will take all the labor of picking up after a parade of well-fed elephants. This committee is taking up a shovel starting now.

“I want to add that occupying the same post my friend John Lewis held for so many years remains one of the great honors of my career. I will continue to work every day to live up to John’s example.”
