Pascrell Announces Technology Grant for Bloomfield College

Nearly $2 Million Received in Federal Funding For Academic

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. ( D-NJ-8) announced today that Bloomfield College has been awarded $1, 825,000 in federal funding under the Strengthening Institutions Program administered by the Department of  Education.  Distributed over a five-year period, the new funding will support personnel expansion as well as upgrades in technological resources, ultimately boosting grade point averages, graduation rates and overall professional development.

"I am very pleased that Bloomfield College will receive this funding to further their tradition of academic excellence," said Pascrell, a former history teacher. "With this grant, Bloomfield's dedication to personal and professional success will be strengthened to meet the ever-changing needs of our modern economy.  It's a tough job market out there and graduates of Bloomfield College will be better prepared to take on the various challenges thrown their way.  I am proud to fight for Bloomfield College - an exemplary institution in New Jersey and the Eighth Congressional District."

"We are extremely gratified by the awarding of this grant.  It not only will enable us to serve our students better, enhance their academic success and assist them in their preparation for graduate school, it is also an expression of confidence and support for the mission and programs of Bloomfield College," stated Richard Levao, President of Bloomfield College.  "This is a school that is ready to reach the next level of success and distinction.  We extend our greatest appreciation to Congressman Pascrell for all his efforts, and the very timely and helpful support given to our application by both Senators Corzine and Lautenberg whose staff spent many valuable hours discussing this College's plans and aspirations during our recent visit."
