U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-NJ-09) announced today that Passaic County has been awarded $815,756 in federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to promote neighborhood revitalization, housing rehabilitation, and economic development activities.

“In this time of economic recovery, this federal investment in Passaic County will help families most in need keep a roof over their heads while supporting the creation of jobs as these projects are funded,” stated Pascrell a member of the House Budget and Ways and Means Committees. “These federal funds are a critical tool in helping local governments tackle the most pressing needs facing their communities.  We all want to see our neighborhoods develop and grow, and these funds will help advance that goal by assisting the most vulnerable among us.”

“Passaic County can count on Congressman Pascrell to fight for resources that help our local communities,” said Passaic County Freeholder Director Pat Lepore. “These federal funds will go a long way in strengthening our communities and expanding economic opportunities.”

CDBG is a flexible program that provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs. Beginning in 1974, the CDBG program is one of the longest continuously run programs at HUD. The CDBG program provides annual grants on a formula basis to 1209 general units of local government and States.
