Rep. Pascrell Statement on Nomination of Christopher Wray as FBI Director

 – Today, U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ), co-chair of the Congressional Law Enforcement Caucus, issued the following statement after President Trump announced his pending nomination of Christopher Wray as the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"That Christopher Wray has gotten positive reviews from both sides of the aisle is encouraging. In addition to making sure Mr. Wray was not required to pledge loyalty to the President, I hope the Senate will examine Mr. Wray’s role in the Justice Department’s use of deferred and non-prosecution agreements. Use of these deals expanded during his tenure at the department and getting those facts will be important to fully understand Mr. Wray’s record on addressing corporate criminals," Rep. Pascrell said. "I am particularly interested in press reports of Mr. Wray’s involvement with the controversial Bristol-Myers Squibb agreement, especially in light of Attorney General Sessions’ decision this morning to outlaw third-party payments, such as the one then-U.S. Attorney Christie directed from Bristol-Myers Squibb to his alma mater."
