U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-08) the Ranking Member on the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Science and Technology today made the following statement in response to the Department of Homeland Security's Fiscal Year 2006 Homeland Security Grant Program allotment which decreases federal homeland security grants for New Jersey by approximately $4 million. "We know that New Jersey's threats and vulnerabilities have not decreased, so it is utterly inexplicable that our overall homeland security funding has just gone down. A process that lowers needed security monies for New Jersey, as well as New York City and Washington D.C. is obviously one that is fatally flawed and must be immediately reformed. All homeland security money needs to be allocated explicitly on risk-and that is clearly not the case based on what DHS announced today." ### |
