Pascrell: Economic Recovery Funding Invests Over $60 Million In Passaic and Essex County Roads and Bridges

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-08) today welcomed over $60 million in federal funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for Passaic and Essex County road projects in the 8th Congressional District. 

“This investment is going to put people to work and it’s going to do it fast,” stated Pascrell.  “It will make our bridges safer, our roads easier to navigate and provide necessary maintenance for deteriorating public infrastructure.  This investment will also free up budget room to advance funding for future road projects and modernization work.  I applaud this investment and am eager to see it put New Jersey’s people back in their work boots.”    

I-280, Corridor Bridge Painting--$15.3 Million
West Orange  Addresses painting needs for 49 bridges along the I-280 corridor.               
                                                                                                                     
Median Crossover Crash Prevention --$3.50 Million
Livingston, West Orange Projects will protect about 5.05 miles of Route 24 where cross median accidents have occurred.

I-80 East Bound West of Madison Ave to Polifly Rd--$14 Million
Paterson  This project will mill and resurface the section of I-80 between M.P. 58.9-65.4. There will be some deck patching performed. Guide rail upgrades will be included.

I-80 Westbound East of South Beverwyck Rd to W of Rt 23 Intchg--$13 million
Paterson This is a resurfacing project consists of milling 2" and repaved with 5" of Superpave Hot Mix Asphalt. Substandard guide rail will be upgraded. Existing vertical under-clearances will be maintained at all underpasses.

I-80 Corridor Bridge Painting--$10 Million
Paterson Addresses painting needs for 20 bridges along the I-80 corridor.

Grove Street (CR 623) over Rt 46--$4.70 Million
Clifton  Design work. This project consists of superstructure replacement over Route 46 in Clifton Township, Passaic County. There will be cast in place concrete deck with new pier caps and bearings that will improve a bridge deck seat. Substructure repairs are also included.
