U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09), the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight, today hailed the sending of Child Tax Credits that will arrive in millions of bank accounts and mailboxes today. All told, approximately 90 percent of American family will receive life-altering child tax credits passed by the Democratic Congress.

“Politicians can be prone to hyperbole but not here. This child tax credit will remake tens of millions of lives for the better,” said Rep. Pascrell, a senior member of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee which helped write the credit. “Included in the American Rescue Plan, the advance child tax credit is one of the most significant provisions of legislation Congress has passed in generations to fight child poverty. The positive impacts won and lives lifted up by this much needed financial relief will help millions of families sucker punched by this pandemic put a hot meal on the table, cover for housing costs, and afford daily essentials, like diapers and formula.

“The American people entrusted Democrats with complete control of the government and we have acted with urgency to pay back that trust and improve peoples’ lives. Every American who will benefit from this life-changing benefit should be reminded that it was possible only because of the Democratic House, the Democratic Senate, and President Joe Biden. Every single Republican in Congress voted against Americans receiving a monthly check from the government to support children and their family. Don’t forget it.”
