Pascrell Statement on President Trump & China's Currency Manipulation

U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ), Ranking Member of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade, today released the following statement in response to President Trump’s comments that his Administration would not name China a currency manipulator:

"Another day, another broken promise by Donald Trump on trade. President Trump has reversed his pledge to get tough on China and address China’s history of currency manipulation, saying he will use trade as nothing more than a bargaining chip. Despite committing that he would label China a currency manipulator on 'day one,' he has done nothing to address currency manipulation, which has cost our workers millions of jobs over the past decade. The President hasn’t even bothered to answer my February letter seeking his support for bipartisan legislation addressing currency manipulation. If the President will not act to provide relief for American workers, the Congress must step up to demand fair and reciprocal trade with China."
